Summary
This is a locum post to cover sick leave, given the significant community waits for school age-neurodevelopmental assessments. We would be able to offer a minimum 6 month locum to cover the colleague’s caseload/safeguarding on-call, and this post could be extended if the consultant colleague is off for longer or unable to return. This would be valuable experience for someone at consultant level or within 6 months of CCT looking to deliver community paediatrics, or a hybrid option with at least 3PA of community paediatrics. Candidates wishing to offer LTFT options would also be welcomed.
Each post attracts 10 programmed activities though we welcome applications for LTFT working and a hybrid post would include at least 3PA community component. The post holder will be expected to:
· Undertake the assessment and ongoing management of school age children with suspected neurodevelopmental difficulties, particularly ADHD and ASD.
· Take on direct responsibility for the care of children with learning and physical disabilities at a local Special School
· Participate in either the existing Safeguarding on-call rota (currently 1 in 7), including for children who are suspected victims of sexual abuse in-hours (additional training is available if required) and child death, or the acute paediatric on-call. The individual contribution could be discussed at pre-interview discussions and would be negotiated at job-planning.
There would be opportunities to participate in diagnostic MDT assessment and ongoing management for preschool children
