Are you looking for flexibility and an opportunity for professional development?
Could you be the real difference for Leicestershire’s children and young people?
We’re searching for Leicestershire-based people to become specialist foster carers and provide an extra level of dedicated care to a child or young person with SEND or complex behavioural or emotional needs.
Duties and responsibilities
• Create a stable and loving home environment for your carefully matched young person, providing dedicated and bespoke support based on their specific needs.
• Work closely with other professionals (social workers, Dedicated Placement Support Team, therapists etc) to provide high standards of care.
• Act as an advocate for your young person’s wellbeing and development.

Who are we looking for?
• You should be over the age of 21 and have a spare bedroom in your home.
• You should have experience of caring for children or young people with SEND or complex behavioural or emotional needs.
• You will be able to work as part of a dedicated, innovative team, based in your own home.
• Some positions require you to have no children under the age of 18 in the home (considered on a case-by-case basis).
• You will need a full driving license and have access to a vehicle.
• You will need to be passionate about providing the best care and support for children and young people.

Our offer to you
• Generous payments and allowances which are reflective of your role and the experience you bring to it.
• Qualifying Care Tax Relief, currently set at £19,690.
• 24/7, 365 in-house support from our experienced and knowledgeable team, in additional to your own dedicated Supporting Social Worker.
• A Dedicated Placement Support Team, whose job it is to support young people and nurture fostering relationships.
• Excellent, ongoing bespoke training and personal development opportunities held at local venues.
• Access to peer support and networking, including locality groups (foster carer-lead support groups) and foster carer group chats.
• Access to support and information through The Fostering Network, New Family Social and National Association of Therapeutic Parenting (NATP).
• Access to our virtual school – a local authority service whose role is to improve the education of children in care.
• Regular social events for fostering families (including birth children), such as picnics, celebration events and our yearly Fostival event.

What now?
We understand that you may have lots of questions about these roles. For example, you may currently be in employment and want to consider how these opportunities could work for you. We are happy to discuss individual circumstances and provide detailed information so that you can decide if and when you would like to progress.
