Summary
The Housekeeper is a member of the nursing support team, which provides a 7 day a week service for the Unit including ITU, SC and Transitional Care, working under the direct supervision of the trained nursing staff. The contribution of the Housekeeper support team enables the nurses to spend more time caring for the babies and their families and helps to provide a suitable environment for this care to take place.

Our NICU is the Level 3 unit for the North Central London area which provides specialist intensive care for critically ill babies. We also have close links with an on-site fetal medicine unit which is a regional, national and international referral center for fetal medicine, caring for more than 7,000 patients each year. In addition, they have an internationally recognised multidisciplinary team (MDT) who offers individualised care for pregnant women and their families, when there is a concern for the health of an unborn baby. Currently we care for 21 intensive / high dependency care babies, 11 special care babies and 12 transitional care cots.
This post is designed to help maintain a high standard of patient centred care by being an integral part of the ward team. The Ward Housekeeper will ensure the delivery of high standard non-clinical services to patients. This will include stock ordering, catering, environment, minor maintenance, and cleaning of equipment.
They are an important part of the neonatal team and would be working closely with the Multi-disciplinary team - Nursing, Admin, Medical, Allied health professionals, Medical Physics teams and Clinical Reps on a daily basis.
You will maintain high standards of care throughout, communicate with the MDT, and support and foster safe practice on the neonatal unit.
