Summary
Job Title: Metalworker
Location: Durham
Salary: £16.50 per hour (Neg) + overtime uplift rate
Reports to: Workshop Manager
Job Purpose:
Metalwork projects include balustrades, staircases, handrails, gates, and custom decorative metal elements for commercial, residential, and public buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Working on bespoke metalwork components using materials such as stainless steel, mild steel, aluminium, and brass.
* Operate tools and machinery (e.g. saws, drills, grinders, press brakes).
* Perform finishing work such as polishing, grinding, or coating preparation.
* Work to tight deadlines while maintaining quality and safety standards.
* Collaborate with team members including engineers, site supervisors, and contractors.
* Adhere to all site safety and workshop health and safety protocols.
* Maintain tools, equipment, and work space in a clean and operational condition.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Experience working with stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminium.
* Familiar with hand tools, cutting tools, and workshop machinery.
* Good eye for detail, accuracy, and finish quality.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Overtime or weekend work may be required depending on project time lines.
