Summary
Leadership & Management Provide leadership, management and clinical supervision for the Safeguarding Adult and MCA team. Manage the recruitment and human resources issues of staff in the Safeguarding Adult and MCA team. Agree objectives and personal development plans are created jointly for staff in the team. Lead on the recruitment of staff for the adult's team and participate in interview panels in this and other organisations. Lead the implementation of change to service delivery as agreed with the Head of Safeguarding in line with the Quality Improvement strategy. Lead on the MCA/DoLS frameworks for the Trust and represent UHPNT regionally and nationally. Work closely with the legal team. Lead on the implementation of current and emerging legal frameworks around MCA/DoLS and Safeguarding. Working with Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children to ensure there are safeguarding practitioners available for advice and support to staff of UHP. Working with Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children to ensure there is strategic leadership advance available for the Service and UHP. To represent UHP and actively contribute to the work of the Local Safeguarding Adult Board subgroups and Domestic Abuse Subgroups. Working with the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children to ensure that there is appropriate representation at MARAC. To promote effective interagency working and collaboration to ensure a high standard of multiagency working is developed and maintained to improve the outcome for Adults at Risk of abuse/or neglect. To present and provide reports to subgroups of the Boards and subgroups as required. To lead and manage on UHP contribution to Safeguarding Adult reviews when commissioned. To lead and manage on UHP contribution to Domestic Homicide reviews as requested. Clinical Ensure that UHP adopt current best practice/evidence-based practice regarding safeguarding. Ensure policy is compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements as well as Plymouth Safeguarding Adults Board procedures. Provide highly specialised knowledge and support on safeguarding matters inclusive of Mental Capacity Act. Be responsible and accountable for the management of the risk assessment process in relation to individual cases on complex Safeguarding Adults at Risk cases. Ensure there is safeguarding clinical supervision available. Participate in interagency risk assessments and planning in complex cases. Contribute to investigations when necessary. Ensure recommendations, learning and action plans are implemented within UHP from Safeguarding Adult reviews and Domestic Homicide reviews. Training & Education Working in conjunction with the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Head of Education, ensuring there is a comprehensive safeguarding training plan that is deliverable and meets the requirements of the respective intercollegiate and contractual requirements. Lead on the development of safeguarding training resources, participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of multiagency training across the local authorities in relation to safeguarding. To ensure that there are appropriately trained UHP staff who are members of the Local Safeguarding Adults Board training pool. Act as a facilitator as well as assisting with developing Local Safeguarding Adult Board Inter-agency safeguarding training. Provide ongoing education to meet individual, identified needs of key staff members and specialist practitioners. To continue to ensure knowledge of legislation, government publications and initiatives are up to date in order to fulfil the role of Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults. Quality Improvement Implement Quality Improvement programmes to monitor, improve and/or maintain standards for safeguarding. Provide accurate and relevant data to inform service planning, design and delivery. Support staff in implementing changes as a result of research/audit and monitor outcomes. Lead on UHP responses on LSAB audits. To undertake project work in relation to developing safeguarding services. Disseminate research and audit findings to inform best practice in relation to safeguarding. Support staff in implementing change as a result of research and audit and monitor outcome.
