Summary


Applications are invited for a full time post of FY2 in Trauma and Orthopaedics. The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible.

You will gain experience of working in a busy DGH as well as gaining experience in orthopaedic surgery and trauma. The successful candidate will also participate in the on call rota along with the current trainees.

Candidates will require full registration with the General Medical Council. You will be encouraged to develop clinical, managerial and educational skills within the Trust.

The Trust is situated in the South East of England, close to London and the M25.

You will be expected to work with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of services and will share Consultant colleagues in the medical contribution to management.

Subject to the provisions of the Terms and Conditions of Service, you are
expected to observe Basildon & Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust agreed policies and procedures, drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters.

You will be expected to make sure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.

All medical and dental staff employed by heath authorities are expected to comply with appropriate health and safety policies.

1. Provide a service of the highest quality, which includes assessing and providing care to patients referred from Accident and Emergency Department, patients directly referred from the General Practitioner and patients who are current inpatients under the care of other specialities.


2. Work flexibly as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of the general surgery service and assist consultants and other senior staff in their clinical duties when required.


3. Contribute to the development of the surgical services to support the trust in ensuring provision of high quality care outpatient and inpatient care.
