Pay rate: £14.11 per hour PAYE

35 hours per week (Mon-Fri - 09:00 - 17:00)

Contract Length: 2 months

Location: Watford WD18 8AG


Our client is looking for an experienced payroll officer with expertise in the Oracle finance system to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services for their nationwide teams.
You will play a critical role in delivering payroll services in line with internal policies, statutory requirements, and third-party obligations.

Key responsibilities include:


Managing and updating an integrated HR/payroll system, ensuring all salary, benefits, and expenses data is current and correct.


Processing statutory notifications/payments (e.g. SMP, SSP), third-party payments, voluntary deductions, and pension adjustments.


Reviewing staff expense claims for accuracy and policy compliance.


Handling payroll-related communications professionally and in line with Action for Children values.


Conducting internal control checks and resolving any discrepancies or overpayments.


Ensuring TUPE scheme rules and pension legislation are correctly applied, including manual calculations when required.


Supporting system upgrades through HR testing and improvement implementation.


Processing non-standard payments for leavers, generating P45s, and assisting with year-end activities such as issuing P60s and P11Ds.


Collaborating with the People Insight Analyst to generate accurate payroll data reports.


Managing third-party benefit contributions, ensuring correct data submission and reconciliation with the Finance team.


Qualifications & Training:



CIPP National Payroll Certificate or equivalent practical experience.


Essential Experience & Skills:



In-depth knowledge and working experience of the Oracle finance system.


Strong experience in a payroll or financial processing environment.


Ability to work accurately and methodically in a structured, high-volume setting.


Exceptional customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.


Advanced Excel and general Microsoft Office proficiency.


Analytical mindset with strong numerical and data interpretation skills.


A team player who can deliver within set timelines and work collaboratively across departments.
