Summary
Present complex information about projects, initiatives and services to a wide range of stakeholders in a formal setting, persuading others and negotiating change in prescribing habits. To communicate and negotiate with provider organisations e.g. acute trust, community service, mental health and GMMMG in the production of clinical guidelines, shared care protocols, formulary drugs etc. to assure clinical relevance and accuracy of these documents. Link with managers and members of other functions, to address inter-dependencies and ensure alignment. Review and analyse prescribing data and drug budget information at Practice, Locality and GM level to support the Head of Medicines Optimisation and Chief Pharmacist in the management of budgets relating to prescribing and the provision of pharmaceutical services. Drug budget information is complex and specialist analytical and clinical skills are required. Prepare reports/briefings summarising status on issues, appraising outcomes, and providing progress reports for the Head of Medicines Optimisation, Steering/Reference Groups and others as required. Develop, implement and monitor policies, guidelines and protocols to ensure the safe, evidence based, cost effective use of medicines in line with local priorities, national directives, medicines legislation and professional ethics. Collate qualitative and quantitative information and lead appropriate analysis developing robust business cases and ensuring delivery of project products.
