Senior Teaching Assistant (Grade 7) - Wigston SiteBirkett House School has a vacancy for a permanent full-time Senior Teaching Assistant based at our main Wigston site to commence at the start of the autumn term (21/08/2025).Job Information: Birkett House is a very popular and successful all age special school for pupils with learning difficulties. We are a multi-sited school in South Leicestershire and we are currently looking for a full-time Senior Teaching Assistant to be based at our Wigston site. The main school site is in Wigston and we also have inclusion units at Thistly Meadow Primary School (Blaby), Little Hill Primary School (Wigston), Thomas Estley Community College (Broughton Astley) and a purpose built Senior Department based in Countesthorpe. A senior teaching assistant is an integral member of a class team who works closely to support the teacher in providing the teaching and learning of children and directing other teaching assistants operating within the class team. The school provides a comprehensive professional development programme. Please refer to the job description and person specification for further information about the role. Qualifications required: NVQ level 3 (or working towards this level) or equivalent higher qualification Maths/English qualification to NVQ level 2. Contract type: Term Time only (+ 5 training days)
Contract term: Full time, Permanent
Salary Starting: Salary grade 7, point 11-14. Pro rata salary based on 32.50 hours per week and term time contract - actual salary starts at £19,545 (F.T.E. £25,998).
Working hours: 32.50 hrs/wk. The closing date is Sunday 22nd June 2025 and shortlisting will take place on Monday 23rd June. Shortlisted candidates will be expected to spend at least half a day in class before the interview date, and this visit does form part of our interview procedure.
