About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students' learning and well-being. Working closely with experienced teachers and a multi-disciplinary team, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing tailored support to individual students or small groups, understanding their specific needs and learning styles.
- Assisting in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contributing to pupils' progress reviews.
- Supporting students to engage in learning activities and manage their concentration and behaviour effectively.
- Fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
- Promoting students' social and emotional development, encouraging independence and positive peer relationships.
- Assisting with the preparation of learning resources and maintaining a stimulating learning environment.
- Potentially supporting students with personal care, where required.
About You:
We are looking for an individual who:
- Has experience (in a paid or voluntary capacity) working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with autism, ADHD, or SEMH challenges (desirable but not essential for those with a strong aptitude and passion).
- Possesses a calm, patient, and empathetic approach with a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and families.
- Is flexible, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a dedicated team.
- Shows a willingness to learn and undertake professional development.
- Ideally holds relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning), though this is not essential if you have relevant experience and the right attitude.
- Has a minimum of GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English Language.
- Demonstrates an understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
