Summary

Two caring and supportive personal assistants are required for a strong and lively teenage boy living in the St Austell area.
He has ASD, learning difficulties and needs some support with his personal care. He would like two PAs who he can build up a positive relationship with and provide him with some 2:1 support.

He would like them to support him with his communication and social skills out in the community. His interests are food, Mickey Mouse, screen time watching cartoons, car journeys and sensory play; he is anxious around dogs, birds and children.

Your support will enable him to explore the local area, enjoy more social opportunities, and establish an engaging routine, particularly during weekends and school holidays.
This is a rewarding opportunity to help a young person grow and achieve greater independence while making a positive impact on their life.

The role is part-time, with 5 hours per week available, although this is very flexible. Weekend and predominantly school holiday availability will be required.

The hourly rate is £20.00, plus mileage allowance.

Experience or knowledge of working with young people with SEND is essential. A driving licence and access to your own vehicle, with business use insurance, is preferable.

The successful applicants will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All offers of employment will be subject to the successful candidate undertaking an enhanced DBS check, the administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.

If you would like to apply for this role, please send your CV. Alternatively, you can request an application form.

Your CV or application form will be passed onto the family for their consideration. Due to the high number of applicants that are received for various roles, it is not possible to inform applicants if they have been unsuccessful.

Please apply by emailing a copy of your CV and quoting the reference code AHDP/1150 to: cypdirectpayments@cornwall.gov.uk

Please note, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
