Job Title: Senior Care Assistant
Location: Brandon Lodge Care Home Brandon County Durham DH7 8PH
Contract Type: Part-Time (Guaranteed 11 Hours per Week + Opportunity for Additional Care Shifts)
Reports To: Care Home Manager / Deputy Manager
Salary: £12.37
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Care Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis. This role guarantees 11 contracted hours per week, with care shifts available to increase hours. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering exceptional standards of care, supporting and guiding care staff, and ensuring the well-being and dignity of all residents.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Oversight:
Deliver high-quality, person-centred care, supporting and guiding care staff while leading by example.
Supervise care teams to ensure shifts run smoothly and effectively.
Review and update individual care plans to reflect residents’ needs, preferences, and wishes.
Ensure the home maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Support a positive and professional image of the home, building strong relationships with families, visitors, and health care professionals.
Actively promote the home in the local community to raise awareness and build trust.
Resident Care:
Deliver person-centred care according to each resident’s individual care plan.
Encourage and support residents in maintaining independence and living life on their own terms.
Promote dignity, privacy, and respect in all interactions.
Communicate effectively with residents—listening, engaging, and responding to their needs.
Support residents in participating in social and recreational activities that enhance their quality of life.
Promptly report any concerns, incidents, or complaints to the nurse in charge.
Essential Requirements:
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) – essential.
Previous experience in a senior or supervisory care role.
Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Compassionate, patient, and respectful toward residents and colleagues.
Reliable and flexible, with a proactive approach to additional shift coverage.
