Summary
SR Careers is looking for 10+ SENTAs and Teaching Assistants in Manchester and Bradford to support the special schools.
Roles and Responsibilities of a SENTA
SEN Teaching Assistants (SENTAs) support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in schools and educational settings.
Core Responsibilities:
Supporting Learning:
Assist pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
Adapt learning materials to meet the needs of individual students.
Reinforce lessons taught by the teacher.
Implementing EHCPs:
Help deliver strategies and goals outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Promoting Inclusion:
Ensure students with SEN are fully integrated into classroom activities.
Encourage independence and confidence in learning.
Monitoring Progress:
Track pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
Help with behaviour management and support emotional regulation.
Providing Personal Care (when required):
Assist with mobility, feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene (especially for pupils with physical or medical needs).
Working with Professionals:
Liaise with teachers, therapists, SENCOs, and parents to provide consistent support.
Classroom Support:
Help set up resources and maintain an organized, safe learning environment.

Adaptability – Tailoring teaching strategies to suit each child’s needs.
Strong Communication – Engaging with children, teachers, and parents effectively.

Teamwork – Working closely with the teaching team and SENCOs.
Creativity – Making learning enjoyable and accessible.
Resilience – Managing emotional situations while remaining professional.
Knowledge of Safeguarding and SEN – Understanding of safeguarding practices and different SEN types (e.g., ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, etc.).
