Summary
Clinical Responsibilities Assist the department senior sister/charge nurse in assessing the priorities of patient care and the staffing requirements. Actively managing the 4-hour target. Designated responsibility for the management of the unit on a day-to-day basis. To ensure that the work environment is a safe environment for patients, staff, and the public. Be familiar with the Trust policies eg Fire, Violence, Major Incident and Bomb Alert and at times co ordinate for the ward and the unit. Ensure that you and the qualified staff maintain confidentiality in relation to information about patients, staff, and other health service providers in accordance with the Data Protection Act and the Coldicott Guidelines. Assist the department senior sister/charge nurse with the effective use of resources. Monitor standards of quality nursing care. Effectively communicate within the department at all times. Handle and report complaints made by patients and members of the public in accordance with Trust policy in the absence of the department senior sister/charge nurse and feed back to your manager as necessary
