What the school offers its staff

The Academy wishes to appoint an excellent and enthusiastic teacher of Modern Foreign Languages, in particular French. The ability to teach German would also be desirable but is certainly not essential. We are very ambitious for all of our students and exceptionally committed to language learning across and throughout the Academy. We also enjoy exceptional links with our Collegiate primary schools with whom we work very closely in terms of their French curricula and its careful and progressive sequencing.

This is a superb opportunity for an existing/early career teacher of French/MFL to gain further experience in the classroom and to help develop language learning throughout the Academy and the Trust at large. Excellent support is available for those new to the profession with further opportunities for professional development being a possibility as the already highly experienced department grows and continues to improve.

We are seeking to appoint someone with outstanding classroom practice and who shares our vision for all of our students to be the very best versions of themselves that they can be. Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to deliver French to both KS3 and KS4 with KS5 teaching a possibility in the future. There would also be opportunities to develop extra-curricular language learning activities as well as make contributions to our existing International Schools status.

St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy is a very popular, oversubscribed and thriving school serving the Catholic community of the North of Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire. All who work and learn in the Academy enjoy a sense of belonging and know that they are loved. The Academy’s impressive record of success was acknowledged in our inspection in September 2021, as was the leadership’s commitment to staff wellbeing and support in managing workload. (full report on school/Ofsted website).

Commitment to safeguarding

The Academy is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and expects all of its employees to share this commitment. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Amendment Order 1986 and, as such, it will be necessary for a Submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous convictions
