What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint a committed, inspiring and nurturing Learning Support Assistant to join our Inclusion Department. You will work with whole classes, targeted intervention groups, small groups of students and individual students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or, supervising large groups or on a 1:2:1 basis, dependent on need. You may also be required to work with small groups of students and individual students on a 1-2-1 basis within our AIM intervention, providing more intensive, bespoke and personalised interventions for more complex and harder to reach students.
The successful candidate will have significant experience of working in a secondary school learning environment. It is essential that you have a good understanding of student development including cognition and learning processes, you must be able to demonstrate sound communications skills and be competent in the process of monitoring and reviewing student progress. You must have GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/Level 4 or above. In addition, you must hold a relevant Level 3 qualification or be enrolled on the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship once in post.
Professional Responsibilities will include:
• Working with individuals or small groups of students in the classroom;
• Key worker role for a student with an EHCP
• Supporting students with social and emotional well-being;
• Implementing specific programmes with individuals or small groups appropriate to their development needs throughout the curriculum area and/or internal interventions;
• Assisting in the devising of individual student targets and supporting regular monitoring and review;
• Developing positive relationships with students and staff to assist with student progress and attainment.
