Summary
This post is not recognised for training; however, there is a comprehensive, well-structured training programme for all Registrar posts. Departmental Learning from Experience teaching takes place every Friday morning. There are fortnightly perinatal morbidity meetings and fortnightly journal clubs. There is a weekly MDT CTG meeting. There are monthly audit meetings and a weekly hospital grand round. The post holder will also have the opportunity to be involved in the teaching of medical students and will be expected to be involved in audit and research related to their post. Whipps Cross has an active Medical Education Centre with weekly clinical meetings and numerous postgraduate courses. IT support and training is available. There is Internet access and multimedia projection facilities. There is the opportunity to take study leave and to attend outside conferences/courses as relevant, but these may need to be self -funded. The College Tutor for Obstetrics & Gynaecology is currently Mr. I Wong who is available to trainees for educational and careers advice. The postholder will be assigned an educational and clinical supervisor and will be appraised at 4 monthly intervals in accordance with the North-East Thames appraisal pro forma.
