Navigo is looking for an enthusiastic, caring and resilient Health Care Assistant to join our dynamic and dedicated mental health rehabilitation service. You will be joining a team that is committed to delivering person-centred care to individuals living with enduring mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities. This role is integral in supporting our service users on their journey towards greater independence, recovery, and a better quality of life. About the Role This is a privileged and highly rewarding position centred on building meaningful, therapeutic relationships with our service users individuals who may be stepping down from secure placements or who require tailored support in the community. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team working within both inpatient and community rehabilitation pathways. Your role will involve: Support service users with activities of daily living and routines. Assist with 1:1 and group interventions, including cooking, budgeting, leisure, and wellbeing activities. Promote dignity, self-efficacy and recovery-focused care. Work alongside therapists and nurses to implement care and therapy plans. Observe and report changes in mental or physical wellbeing to the clinical team. Help service users attend appointments, engage in community activities and build confidence. Maintain clear, accurate records using electronic systems. Attend team meetings, reflective practice and mandatory training. Work across inpatient settings and in the community Key Responsibilities Person-Centred Support: Develop meaningful, supportive relationships and provide tailored care to help service users gain confidence, autonomy and the skills needed for daily living. Delivery of Interventions: Facilitate both 1:1 and group activities focused on practical and emotional wellbeing, including: Budgeting, welfare, and benefits support Healthy living and nutrition Vocational and educational planning Coping strategies and stress management Engagement in community and leisure activities Observations and Reporting: Monitor and report any changes in mood, interaction, mental state, and daily functioning, helping to prevent relapse and contributing to the overall care planning process. Recovery-Focused Work: Encourage goal setting and support service users in achieving their potential through structured support, compassion, and guidance. Record-Keeping: Accurately document interactions, observations, and interventions in our electronic patient record system. Team Contribution: Participate actively in team meetings, training sessions and service development discussions. Share insights and contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture. Work Flexibility: You will work across inpatient settings and community environments such as service user homes, kitchens, gardens, gyms or outdoor activity spaces wherever care and engagement is needed. What Were Looking For We are seeking individuals who are empathetic, enthusiastic and adaptable. You will ideally have experience or interest in working with people who live with serious mental illness and complex needs. A strong sense of purpose, the ability to work without direct supervision, and a non-judgemental approach are essential. Key attributes include: Strong interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to promoting dignity, inclusion and recovery Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and public holidays Willingness to undertake personal care and practical support tasks Basic IT literacy for recording and reporting Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team Emotional and Physical Resilience Due to the nature of the role, you must be comfortable working in potentially emotionally charged and unpredictable situations. This includes spending long periods providing 1:1 support, managing emotionally distressing conversations, or de-escalating situations involving individuals in crisis. You will also be physically active, driving, walking, participating in leisure activities, and occasionally supporting service users with shopping, cooking, or domestic tasks. Lone working may be required, and all staff must follow the Navigo lone working policy. Training and Development We are committed to your ongoing development and success.
