Do you have a passion for great food and excellent service? Sandwell College Group is looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Chef to join our Catering Team and help deliver fresh, high-quality meals for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities
As an Assistant Chef, you’ll support the Chef Manager in preparing and serving meals across campus. Your day-to-day will involve food preparation and cooking, maintaining kitchen hygiene, assisting with service and stock control, and ensuring allergen and health & safety compliance. Flexibility is key – you’ll also help deliver catering for college events and may be required to cover at multiple campuses.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You will need a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 in Catering (or equivalent). Experience in a commercial or educational catering environment is essential, along with the ability to prepare food to a high standard.
You’ll need to be:
A team player with good communication skills
Flexible and adaptable, with a positive attitude
Organised and calm under pressure
Confident following health, safety, and allergen procedures
Willing to work flexibly, including evenings or across campuses
