As we prepare for an upcoming maternity leave, we are seeking a passionate and skilled SENCO & Senior Mental Health Lead to join our team on a fixed-term basis. About the Role Reporting directly to the Headteacher and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), this role is pivotal to the success and wellbeing of our students. You will: Lead the strategic development of SEN policy and whole-school mental health and wellbeing. Coordinate and oversee daily SEN provision and ensure compliance with EHC plans. Provide professional guidance and coaching to staff, ensuring best practice in inclusive education. Collaborate with families, staff, and external professionals to support exceptional outcomes for pupils with SEN and mental health needs. Act as a key leader in behavioural support, curriculum planning (with subject responsibility for science), safeguarding, and admissions processes. As we are a very small school, we would ideally like to appoint a SENCO who can also teach science. This dual role ensures continuity and flexibility across our provision. What You'll Be Doing Overseeing SEN and mental health strategies aligned with national guidance. Leading internal and external consultations and admissions processes. Managing interventions, THRIVE provision, and overseeing the wellbeing of Looked After Children (LAC). Delivering INSET and ongoing CPD for staff on SEN and mental health topics. Supporting examination access arrangements and compliance. Who We're Looking For We’re seeking an experienced, empathetic, and organised professional who: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required; A SENCo qualification is desirable but not essential.Has a strong understanding of neurodiversity and mental health in educational settings. Is confident teaching science across key stages, with the ability to adapt and differentiate learning. Demonstrates exceptional communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
