About the Role

Join Us in Supporting Nottingham's Care Leavers

Nottingham is a fast-growing, vibrant city full of energy and potential. Our children and young people are at the heart of everything we do, and while we face challenges like deprivation and inequality, we’re proud of the vital work our teams do every day to protect and support them.

Our Children’s Integrated Services work together to improve children’s lived experiences, keep children safe and help them to live healthy and happy lives.

We’re excited to offer an opportunity to join our innovative Leaving Care Service as a Service Manager, reporting to the Head of Service for Children in Care and Care Leavers.

This is a key leadership role working across our Children’s Integrated Services and with partner agencies to improve outcomes for young people transitioning from care.

This is a pivotal moment in our improvement journey, offering the chance to shape services for care leavers. Our Care Leavers are some of our most vulnerable children. As such, we're looking for an experienced leader who’s passionate about improving the lives of young people, has high aspirations for their future, and understands the unique challenges they face.

What we’re looking for:

  • Social Work qualification and SWE registration
  • Proven experience in leading Leaving Care services
  • A strong grasp of statutory responsibilities, Ofsted requirements, and multi-agency partnership working
  • Strategic vision and the ability to drive high-quality service delivery

Why Nottingham?
Joining us means being part of a committed, forward-thinking local authority that puts children at the centre of everything we do. We offer:

  • A competitive benefits package, including flexible working and the Local Government Pension Scheme with a generous employer contribution of 18.5%.
  • A strong focus on staff wellbeing and professional development.
  • The opportunity to shape and lead services that directly impact the lives of Nottingham’s most vulnerable children.

Please note: An enhanced DBS check and fluent English (as required under the Immigration Act 2016) are essential for this role.

We’d love you to join our amazing team!
