Summary

Recruit4staff is proud to be representing their client, a leading Food Manufacturing Company, in their search for an experienced Development Technologist to work from their R&D facility in Telford.

For the successful Development Technologist, our client is offering:

Up to £35,000 per annum (DOE)
Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
12-month Fixed Term Contract
Hybrid Working (60/40 split)

The Role – Development Technologist:

Manage development projects from concept to launch across the product lifecycle.
Develop new or adapt existing recipes considering quality, safety, nutrition, and ingredient functionality.
Prepare and present innovative samples to internal and external partners.
Operate in the kitchen and pilot plant; plan and execute scale-up trials and product testing.
Produce clear and complete trial reports and maintain full NPD documentation.
Support first production runs and train relevant staff on new processes.
Source and approve new ingredients following internal compliance procedures.
Contribute to food safety risk assessments, nutritional claims, and artwork checks.
Ensure all development complies with legal, brand, and retailer standards.
Attend project meetings, contribute to feasibility studies, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
Occasional travel to other UK manufacturing sites and third-party co-packers.

What our client is looking for in a Development Technologist:

BSc / MSc in Food Science, Dairy Technology, or a related field – ESSENTIAL
Knowledge of dairy science, nutrition, and product development – ESSENTIAL
Previous experience working in a development role in food manufacturing – ESSENTIAL
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Effective communication skills and team player mindset
High attention to detail and a passion for food innovation
