Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced Disrepair Surveyor to join a well-established social housing provider in North London on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated professional to play a key role in ensuring the organisation meets its legal and service obligations around housing disrepair claims.
Role Summary:
As a Disrepair Surveyor, you will be responsible for inspecting properties, diagnosing building defects, and producing robust technical reports in relation to housing disrepair claims. You will work closely with legal teams, contractors, and residents to ensure appropriate remedial works are specified and completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Key Responsibilities:

Undertake detailed property inspections in response to disrepair claims.

Identify and diagnose structural defects and maintenance issues, including damp, mould, leaks, and other common issues.

Prepare comprehensive disrepair reports including photographic evidence and costed schedules of work.

Liaise with internal legal teams and external solicitors on the progression of disrepair cases.

Provide expert witness statements when required and attend court as necessary.

Monitor progress of remedial works, ensuring contractors deliver high-quality results on time.

Advise on preventative maintenance strategies and improvements to reduce disrepair claims.
Essential Requirements:

Proven experience as a Surveyor within the social housing sector, specifically handling disrepair claims.

Strong understanding of the Housing Disrepair Protocol and relevant legislation.

Excellent report writing and communication skills.

Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied caseload efficiently.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable:

Experience working within a legal context or providing expert witness statements.

Chartered status (RICS or CIOB) is advantageous but not essential.
