Summary

Applications are invited for the position of Clinical Education Fellow in undergraduate medical education, offering an exciting opportunity to work and train at UCL, a world-leading university, and UCLH, one of the largest and most complex NHS trusts. This fellowship is designed to support the career development of enthusiastic post-foundation year doctors interested in medical education and surgical training, ideal for those aiming to enhance their CV for a National Training Number (NTN) or Academic Clinical Fellowship.

The role is based solely at UCLH and involves a blend of educational and clinical duties within a strong Undergraduate MBBS programme featuring excellent clinical departments and cutting-edge facilities.

The postholder will develop electronic teaching resources, enhance digital learning, participate in theatre lists, ward rounds, audits, and management meetings, and engage in surgical research and teaching.

Although not recognised for pre-CCT training, the fellowship provides valuable supervised operating and clinic opportunities, with some independent clinical tasks, teaching, and junior supervision expected based on experience. The programme includes a structured weekly timetable offering extensive elective experience and encourages attendance at relevant training courses and conferences. We aim to appoint two candidates who will share teaching and clinical responsibilities evenly, with one doctor on the General Surgery Acute on-call rota and the other on the resident night-time ward rota, a decision made by consultants based on experience and service needs.
