Summary

Toolmaker – Full-Time

Location: Redditch, Worcestershire
Salary: £15.00 – £18.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Hours: 38 hours per week | 4.5-day working week
Contract Type: Permanent | On-site

️ The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Toolmaker to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Redditch. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in precision engineering to contribute to a forward-thinking and quality-driven business.

As a Toolmaker, you will play a critical role in the design, manufacture, maintenance, and modification of tooling used in production. You will operate a range of CNC and manual machines, and work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure tooling is manufactured to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, assemble, and maintain precision tools, jigs, and fixtures


  • Operate both CNC and manual machinery (milling, turning, grinding) to close tolerances


  • Diagnose tooling faults and carry out timely repairs or modifications


  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models


  • Conduct tooling inspections and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives


  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to deliver effective tooling solutions


  • Comply with all health, safety, and quality standards


    ✅ Requirements

    Essential:

    • Proven experience as a Toolmaker or within a similar precision engineering role


    • Skilled in both CNC and manual machining techniques


    • Ability to read and work from complex engineering drawings


    • Competency in using CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Mastercam)


    • High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work


    • Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical, proactive mindset


    • Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team


    • Relevant apprenticeship or qualification in Toolmaking, Mechanical Engineering, or similar


      Desirable:

      • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or advanced manufacturing environments


      • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques
