Summary
Band 7 GI Cancers Clinical Nurse Specialist
The post-holder will work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team to provide expert advice and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals on GI cancers, across both secondary and primary care.
The post holder will work with the wider GI Cancer team and have close working relationships with the clinical research team, surgical team, medical oncology and clinical oncology colleagues across the Trust. The post holder will possess knowledge and skill across all the different treatment pathways and mentor and support junior colleagues in both CNS roles and across the wards.
To provide current information, support and holistic care to patients and carers with a diagnosis of GI Cancer, ensuring that physical, spiritual, emotional and social concerns are addressed. Maintain effective communication with patients, carers and healthcare professionals, ensuring high quality service delivery.
Sensitively handle difficult situations that often arise involving patients, carers and health care professionals.
Develop local written information particular to the service for service users. Ensure patients and carers are given appropriate written and oral information regarding disease and management in line with agreed Barts Health Standard.
