Are you passionate about working with and inspiring pupils? If so Gwernyfed High School would love to hear from you!
We are looking for a highly motivated and flexible individual with relevant work experience to join our team of Cover Supervisors from September 2025. The role would be ideal for graduates wishing to gain experience in order to enter a career in teaching or who would like to further their career working with young people. Applications from NQTs or teachers with QTS are also welcome.
The successful applicant will cover lessons during the short-term absence of the class teacher who will have set suitable work for that lesson. The Cover Supervisor will supervise learners whilst they complete set tasks, manage behaviour and support learners in the completion of work. This requires no marking or planning but does require active supervision and delivery of the information provided by the teacher or Head of Faculty.
You will need a good standard of written and spoken English and have capacity to develop curriculum knowledge. You must possess excellent communication skills, be computer literate and a self-starter with initiative. You will have the confidence and ability to engage with young people in a positive manner. Previous experience of working with young people is desirable.
You may be required to support general school administration when demand for cover is low.
You will be committed to your own personal development and be ready and able to take advantage of the training that will be provided. We are committed to ensuring that our Cover Supervisors are given opportunities to build on their existing interests, skills and experience and become valued and active members of our school community.
