Purpose of the Job
To undertake a range of specific tasks within a school kitchen.
Key Job Outcomes
1. Assist the Kitchen Manager/Cook where necessary with:
The preparation, cooking and serving of food for children, staff and visitors.
Post and pre meal cleaning and preparation
Specific preparation for functions as required.
2. To assist in maintaining the kitchen within health and safety, kitchen hygiene and food quality regulations and policies.
3. Assist with setting up and clearing the service counter and dining room area.
4. Assist in clearing, cleaning, washing up within the kitchen and other areas as requested, including ‘deep clean’ cleaning once a year using any approved specialist products and methods laid down.
5. Deliver school meals to Pathways Learning Centre, so a drivers license and access to a vehicle is essential.

General Accountabilities
A. So far as reasonably practicable, the postholder must ensure that safe working practices are adopted by employees, and in premises/work areas for which the postholder is responsible, to maintain a safe working environment for employees and service users. These are defined in the Corporate Health, Safety and Welfare policy, departmental policies and codes of practice.
B. Work in compliance with the Codes of Conduct, Regulations and policies of the City Council, and its commitment to equal opportunities
C. Ensure that output and quality of work is of a high standard and complies with current legislation / standards
