Summary
Background to the post
This exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team in the post of Student Services Assistant, due to the retirement of the current post holder after nearly 14 years’ service. Our school continues to go from strength to strength, with many school years being oversubscribed due to demand for places. There are tremendous benefits to working in the independent schools’ school sector and St. Michael’s is one of Wales’ leading schools. Our summer 2024 A-Level results propelled us to third place in the whole UK (Sunday Times). In 2021 we were named as Welsh Independent Secondary School of the Decade by The Sunday Times. These achievements are down to our hard working staff who go above and beyond in everything that they do and our highly motivated pupils, whose conduct and enthusiasm supports them to achieve great things.
We are seeking a motivated, flexible and confident person who can undertake this versatile role. This post plays an important role as part of the ‘glue’ that holds the school together during day to day operations. The present post-holder is much admired and has a lot of contact with pupils, assisting with them obtaining uniform and also arranging school dinners for those who want them. You would need to be someone who enjoys working with children of all ages and can support them, but also organise and manage them when required, such as maintaining order during dinner times. You’ll be flexible at swapping from one task to another, but also ensure that tasks are completed. A warm, friendly and professional character is a necessity, as well as the ability to build good working relationships with staff, pupils and their parents.
If you join us, you will benefit from working with courteous and motivated children, a range of employee benefits and the chance to be part of a friendly and encouraging staff team, in a happy and enjoyable working environment.
Application method: Firstly, please review the rest of this pack carefully to ensure that you meet the required criteria. Apply by submitting a fully completed application and a brief covering letter (no longer than one side of A4 paper) to our eTeach platform. Registration will be required for this. There is no need to provide a CV. The covering letter should outline in summary, how you are suitable for the post that you are applying for.
Closing date for applications: Monday 16th June
Shortlisted candidates notified by: Wednesday 18th June
Interviews to be held: Week commencing Monday 23rd June
