Summary

Main Purpose:
This is a key role in the store management team, driving great shop standards, operations and customer service to maximise income opportunities in line with the Sobell House Hospice retail strategy.

Tasks and Responsibilities: Please note: Due to the nature of stock involved, some heavy lifting may be required as part of this role. Training and equipment will be provided.

Customer Service, Operations and Charity Representation:
Support the store management team to deliver the expected retail standards, ensuring the efficient running of the shop floor in their absence

Lead by example to ensure a high standard of courtesy and service is offered to customers and donors on the shop floor

Support and execute established best practices in operations including cash handling and reconciliation, stock sorting, rotation and testing, loss prevention, online sales, and furniture collection and delivery services

Hold department ownership using reporting to analyse results and drive actions to improve stock turn and profitability

Support with effective stock merchandising and visual presentation on the shop floor

Actively promote and administer HMRC Gift Aid scheme

Support store management with community engagement initiatives to promote the work and charitable objectives of Sobell House Hospice Charity Limited (SHHC)

Health and Safety:
Support Warehouse Management to ensure Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to at all times including completing necessary store checks

Ensure the shop premises, shop floor and back areas are kept clean and tidy at all times

Ensure safe use of equipment and proactively follow reporting procedures for any necessary repairs and maintenance

People Management
Support Warehouse Management to organise and plan the smooth day-to-day running of the shop floor

Motivate and encourage the team of staff and volunteers. Support their ongoing training and development, providing feedback as required

Act as a mentor and undertake onboarding with new starters
Ensure the team maintain and present a positive image of the organisation, representing SHHC in a professional manner at all times

Other Duties
Embody the values of Sobell House Hospice Charity and comply with all policies and procedures

Complete in a timely fashion, any relevant training as identified by the line manager or Director of Retail, or, as required by The Charity, to meet statutory or mandatory training requirements

Occasional attendance at charity events outside of core working hours may be required

Support managers to ensure that all activity is run in compliance with key rules and regulations, including the Fundraising Regulator, Institute of Fundraising, HMRC, GDPR, Information Commissioners Office (ICO), Gambling Commission and SORP, keeping abreast of all developments and guidelines.

Be a responsible key holder including opening and closing the store as required
