Summary
At Universities by Sodexo, you will be an essential member of the team working as a Cleaner in Trinity Square Accommodation, 202 High Street, Gateshead, NE8 1AQ. You will be responsible for the site's overall appearance on a daily basis, providing outstanding cleaning services in order to keep the surroundings safe and hygienic for everyone. What you’ll do:
Adhere to all relevant Health and Safety Policies, challenge any unsafe behaviour and report any dangers, near misses or hazards you encounter to the business.
Use cleaning chemicals safely as detailed by the Control of Substances Hazardous to health guidelines (COSHH) and in line with Safety Data Sheets.
Training as directed by line manager to operate various cleaning devices; floor buffers, carpet cleaners, pressure washer, vacuum cleaners, leaf blower.
Ensure all areas are cleaned efficiently and in a timely manner to the required standards; this is to include weekly and periodic tasks.
Maintain the commercial waste bins on site, rotating these twice daily and ensuring the bin area is always kept clean and tidy.
Carrying out daily litter picking to the main site and associated car park areas to keep all external areas clean and debris free at all times.
Help to complete planned and reactive cleaning tasks onsite, include showerhead cleans and or flushing as required.
Provide proactive and helpful support to cleaning staff as required.
Respond to all Sodexo helpdesk calls in a timely manner in response to reactive cleaning requirements.
Cleaning rooms/kitchens within the student’s accommodation in preparation for student intake periods.
Help to keep storage areas clean and tidy at all times, including under C block and storage area in the car park.
Any other additional tasks as required by management
What you bring:
Previous experience in a similar role, with knowledge of cleaning solutions and their uses
Exceptional communication and customer service skills
Flexibility, including willingness to work overtime, as when required, including some unsocial and weekend hours.
Ability to interact effectively with students, staff, external companies and members of the public.
Ability to prioritise work and work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
Ability to work calmly and quickly under pressure.
An effective team member - requesting or offering support when required and keeping manager / supervisor informed of progress.
Ability to empathise with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Excellent customer service skills.
