More detail about the role We are looking for two candidates to join the haemodialysis team at the Exeter Kidney Unit at Wonford. We work ten hour shifts, 0730-1800 and 1200-2230, working fifteen days over a four week rota. We do not do Sundays or night duties, apart from Christmas and New Year weeks. Then we open on the Sundays and always have Christmas day and New Year's day off. You will be involved in the hands on care of patients receiving dialysis, plus working on the Renal Day Case Unit assisting the doctors and nursing staff with procedures. All training will be given in a month long training block at the Heavitree dialysis unit before starting at Wonford. This consists of working five early shifts 0730-1530 Mon-Fri for four to five weeks. This is mandatory, and must be considered by the successful candidate. We highly recommend an informal visit, and prior knowledge of renal care and dialysis will be a distinct advantage. We care for both inpatients and outpatients with a wide variety of medical needs, which means each day is different. We are a nurse led unit, where thinking independently and being able to trouble shoot are crucial skills that we are looking for. Working Pattern: We care for our patients around the clock so we will need you to work a range of shift patterns. These range from short shifts, day shifts between 8am and 8pm and 12.5-hour day and night shifts with an hour break in the ward areas. Please do check this at your interview. If you join before the implementation date, the pay award will be backdated to your start date.
