A Secondary school in Enfield are seeking Graduate English Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated teams from September 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring English teacher to develop classroom experience, work with passionate educators, and begin their journey into the education profession.

The Role – Graduate English Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate English Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting teaching and learning by:

• Working one-to-one or in small groups with students who need additional literacy support
• Assisting with the delivery of engaging English lessons that cover reading, writing, and analysis
• Supporting pupils with GCSE exam preparation and coursework
• Encouraging thoughtful class discussion and participation in English topics
• Helping students overcome learning barriers, particularly in written expression and comprehension
• Preparing lesson materials and maintaining an orderly, productive learning environment
• Collaborating with English teachers and SEN staff to address individual learning needs

What We’re Looking For – Graduate English Teaching Assistant

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A 2:1 degree or higher in English, English Literature, or a closely related subject.
• A strong academic background, particularly in English at A-Level and GCSE.
• A genuine passion for English education and a desire to inspire young learners.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, adaptable approach and the ability to engage pupils at various ability levels.
• Previous experience working with young people (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is advantageous but not essential.
• A long-term interest in a career in education, whether teaching, curriculum design, or educational support.
