We’re looking for a creative, tenacious, accomplished and kind communications expert who can help us join up our story telling across internal and external audiences, advise our executive leaders on engaging busy teams and colleagues with vital organisational change, and demonstrate the case-clinching evidence that communications expertise is a key part of NHS business.
You will play a key role in helping deliver Trust-wide campaigns that engage staff in improving safety and performance, reduce disparities in health care and outcomes, and build an authentic sense of belonging and development as staff learn and grow. You will provide both strategic and tactical advice to senior leaders relating to key issues and priorities, so being able to secure trust and confidence from priority customers from day 1 is a must.
In addition to the broader change happening in the NHS and our Trust-specific change programmes, our team is embedding efficiency improvements alongside delivering business as usual, so being comfortable with iterative implementation is a must. This role is currently for 6 months, to allow the flexibility that we might need as changes unfold.
We've got a voice at the top table and are determined to use it to live up to the high expectations our community and colleagues have got for us. Come and help us make north London better. Better mental health. Better lives. Better communities.
This postholder will provide the first point of contact as team's "account manager" for key exec-led programmes of work and organisational priority campaigns, including:
• CEO Connect- a multi-channel/product suite of chief executive-led communications activity, including interactive monthly webinars, quarterly 'town hall' style roadshow events, and topical blogs which support the Trust's growing thought-leadership activity in the mental health sector
• Supporting the roll-out, understanding and adoption of the North London Way, a combined cultural and continuous improvement methodology programme, built on our Trust values and commitment to adopting a quality improvement approach in our work
• Overseeing the effective delivery of communications and engagement support for essential Trust-wide programmes such as winter vaccination, staff surveys, organisational development programmes such as wellbeing support and staff networks.
North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT) is committed to improving mental health care across North London to deliver excellent services to our local people.
Our Five-Year Strategy:
1. We will provide consistently high-quality care closer to home.
2. With our partners in North London and each borough we will ensure equity of outcome for all
3. We will offer great places to work, providing staff with supportive environment to deliver outstanding care.
4. We will be more effective as an organisation by pioneering research, quality improvement and technology.
In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.
• Formulate long-term strategic communications and engagement plans across digital and traditional media, often involving uncertainty, to support the above objectives, and oversee effective implementation of these
• Develop and deliver the communications plans for internal staff engagement campaigns, including annual flu campaign, CQC visits, patient safety and information initiatives, as well as local and national staff surveys
• Ensure internal communications campaigns and awareness days and weeks are effectively communicated via all-staff webinars, emails, and other channels
• Proactively support senior OD and HR leads in programmes, strategically and operationally, to effect Trust wide cultural change as part of the Partnership's strategic objectives
• Responsibility for creating and overseeing communication plans and urgent communication messages, liaising with senior leadership for sign-off
• Lead on all internal communications and engagement activities including sign-off of the Trust's weekly staff bulletins, NetPresenter content, intranet, screensavers and other content
• Represent Internal Communications at key meetings often attended by senior colleagues
• Line management of the Internal Communications Manager and Officer roles, overseeing their work and proactively seeking opportunities, through training, mentoring or coaching, to ensure their professional development. Responsible for regular appraisals of both.
• Work closely with the Senior Digital Communications Manager to ensure staff are involved and engaged with the development of digital platforms including Al supported tools and resources
