Summary


This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Narrative Exposure Therapy in Early Intervention in Psychosis (NETp): A feasibility Randomised Control Trial (RCT) study.https://fundingawards.nihr.ac.uk/award/NIHR206724

This study is led by Dr Miriam Fornells-Ambrojo, Associate Professor at the Department of Clinical, Health and Educational Psychology at University College London (UCL) and Professor Sonia Johnson, Consultant Psychiatrist at the Islington Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Service and also based in Division of Psychiatry (UCL).

The post holder will be based within the Camden and Islington EIP teams and will work with the NETp study team including lead principal investigators, patient and public involvement lead several other senior clinical psychologists. The trial started in November 2024 and it is 26 months long. This pilot trial will involve recruiting 50 participants with a history of multiple trauma and re-experiencing symptoms (PTSD trauma intrusions and/or anomalous experiences or distressing beliefs thematically linked to trauma) under the care of EIP services in two NHS Trusts (Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Trust & North London NHS Trust (C&I specifically) will be randomly allocated to receive NET(+ TAU) or TAU alone. Results of this feasibility trial will be used to inform a more substantive trail of NETp in first episode psychosis teams.

Main purpose of the job:

· This is a 19-month part-time research post to support and enhance the delivery of a randomised controlled trial at one of the sites in an exciting NIHR funded multi-centre project.

· The role will involve recruiting and helping collaborating colleagues to recruit patients into the study at one of the study sites (North London NHS Foundation Trust). The role will also involve conducting baseline and follow-up structured research interviews with participants, helping them to complete patient-reported outcome measures. The post holder will be responsible for the secure storage and management of all data collected. There may be opportunities to be involved in qualitative data collection and analysis.

· The post holder will be employed and managed by North London NHS Foundation Trust to work within the Camden and Islington EIP teams.

The post holder will work under the supervision of Camden and Islington EIP team managers, the trial co-principal investigators Dr Miriam Fornells-Ambrojo and Prof Sonia Johnson, as well as other senior clinical psychologists.

*Please note that due to the funding available for this post, we are only able to offer Band 5 Entry step point salary to candidates (i.e. we are unfortunately unbale to offer mid or top salary step points, to candidates with 2+ years experience).
