Summary

We are looking for a Senior Maintenance Operative to work across our 9 residential care homes based in Sheffield.
Hours: 37 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday
Pay: £30,000 per hour
All new staff are required to attend an induction at our training room in S13 prior to starting work in the care home. These are run every three weeks, starting on a Monday, between 9:30am until 4:30pm.
Person Specification:
• Full Clean Driving Licence
• Experience of supervising a small team maintenance team
• Understanding of Health & Safety compliance
• Solid experience in maintenance and repair, buildings and facilities, DIY, cleaning and housekeeping
• Technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
• IT skills
• Literacy skills sufficient to write succinct and professional management papers and reports
• Numeracy skills sufficient to be able to work within budgets
• Ability to plan work, prioritise tasks, organise staff and resources
• Construction, electrical and plumbing skills desirable
• Experience of working around older people / people living with dementia desirable

The job role:
• To oversee general maintenance and repairs across multiple Sheffcare sites (care homes, day centres, central office)
• To lead and support a small maintenance team, including 1:1 supervision
• To manage and prioritise compliance tasks (e.g. Legionella, Fire Safety, PAT, Nurse Call, M&E)
• To act as lead maintenance operative at one designated care home
• To provide direct hands-on maintenance cover when needed (e.g. staff absence)
• To carry out fault finding and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems
• To coordinate planned preventative and reactive maintenance (buildings, plant, equipment, furniture)
• To maintain stock control systems and prepare purchase orders for authorisation
• To conduct vehicle checks, maintain log sheets, and drive light vans safely
• To act as point of contact for the Director of Facilities when required
• To attend Health & Safety forums and support compliance with all relevant legislation
• To participate in staff meetings, training and development
• To respect resident privacy and dignity, ensuring confidentiality at all times
• To carry out delegated duties and respond to reasonable management requests
