About Us
We’re a small, hands-on engineering company specialising in machinery for the ceramic tableware industry, while also serving a broad range of sectors including food processing, aerospace, automotive, materials handling, and light manufacturing. With our small team, we offer a unique opportunity to join a close-knit family and make a real impact across the business.

The Role
We are looking for a hands-on, adaptable engineer who enjoys variety in their work. This is not a narrow or desk-only role. You'll be involved across the full spectrum of our operations, from initial design to on-site customer support. Your typical week could include CAD design, mechanical assembly, site visits, problem-solving with customers, and modifying existing machinery.

Key Responsibilities
• Design of mechanical systems using 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor).
• Assembly and testing of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
• Modification and upgrade of customer machinery.
• On-site fault diagnosis and breakdown support.
• Collaborating directly with customers to understand and implement solutions.
• Managing small projects from concept to completion.

Required Skills and Experience
• HND/Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on assembly/fitting experience.
• Proficiency with CAD software.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites, predominantly in the greater Stoke-on-Trent area.
• Excellent communication and team-working ability.
Desirable Skills
• Electrical knowledge (wiring, motors, sensors, etc.).
• Experience with PLCs or automation systems.
• Experience in ceramic or general purpose machinery design and development.

Why Join Us?
• Be a key player in a small, friendly company.
• Work on varied and interesting engineering challenges.
• Gain exposure to full lifecycle of engineering projects.
• Opportunity to grow with the company and take on more responsibility.

What We Can Offer
• Competitive Salary
£38,000–£46,000 per annum, depending on experience and capabilities.
We are open to offering a higher package for an exceptional candidate who brings significant experience in automation, PLC systems, or multi-disciplinary engineering.
• Discretionary Profit Share Scheme
Annual profit-based bonus scheme to reward your contribution to the business's success.
• Flexible Working Hours
Flexibility around core working hours to help you maintain work–life balance.
• Generous Holiday Allowance
30 days of holiday per year (including bank holidays), with most days taken flexibly to suit your schedule.
• Charity Support
We contribute £25 per month to a charity of your choice, giving back to causes that matter to you.
• Pension Scheme
Access to a contributory pension plan to help support your long-term financial wellbeing.

Additional Benefits
• Diverse and Interesting Projects
You won’t be stuck doing the same thing every day – our projects vary across industries and technologies.
• High Degree of Autonomy
With a small team, you’ll have a real say in how things are done and the freedom to shape your role.
• Personal Development Opportunities
Get hands-on experience across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems, with support to grow your skillset.
• Job Security and Stability
We’re a well-established business with loyal clients and a consistent flow of work.
• Minimal Bureaucracy
No layers of management – just direct collaboration and decision-making.
