Summary
Act as a credible, strong and visible role model in the ward ensuring that there is regular contact with patients, carers and staff. Provide excellent clinical leadership by demonstrating best practice in the clinical environment, working on a one-to-one basis with both staff and patients and engaging with other members of the MDT to observe performance of care from all levels; challenging, correcting or encouraging as practice is observed, ensuring high standards are maintained. Ensure that there are systems in place to store, check and administer medicines in accordance with the Trust, National and NMC standards and policies. To promote innovative and collaborative working practice within the nursing and multi-disciplinary team, to ensure an effective working environment is developed and maintained and to ensure outside agencies are involved where appropriate. Representing the ward/department at meetings, participating in audit, research and other projects, whilst contributing to the development of policy Trust wide. To actively participate with MDT meetings raising and discussing concerns and actively seeking acceptable and best outcomes solutions for the patients.
