Summary

Main responsibilities include carrying out patient observations, venepuncture, safe removal of IV cannula's, chaperoning consultants in clinic and organising and co-ordinating relevant patient scans such as MRI/CT/Doppler. Excellent communication skills are essential as the ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patient telephone query's and ensuring patient's appointment attendance is confirmed. The ideal candidate will liaise with multiple members of the MDT to ensure the patient's journey through the clinics is as smooth as can be. Previous outpatient experience is essential and a willingness to work towards Band 3 clinical skills such as venepuncture/cannulation/ECG recording/blood pressures/stock taking is also essential. Essential Criteria Demonstrates a willingness and capability to undertake NVQ level 3. Demonstratable experience in hospital setting working at NVQ level 2. Reputation for high standard of patient care. Excellent communication skills Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues in the health care setting. Basic computer skills Supportive of colleagues and patients. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in all areas. Safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps as per Trust policy Be familiar with Trust policy and procedure for reporting clinical incidents, reporting of incidents if they occur. Attend to the needs of visitors and patients particularly those who may be distressed or bereaved. Care for patients property, including valuables, in accordance with Trust policy. Obtain demographic details and social history from patients/visitors to assist in the admission process. Provide support and assistance to new and junior members of staff.
