Summary

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on-site General Building Engineer in HMP Ranby.

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week (across 7 days where a weekend shift pattern is in place). There is a need to work some weekends, but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).

At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.

By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.

The General Building Engineer plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.

What you will do:
• Ensuring availability of critical parts for statutory tasks and managing remedial tasks in the CAFM system.
• Performing general and semi-skilled maintenance activities, including security systems like CCTV and alarms.
• Conducting monthly checks and tests of fire extinguisher equipment, fire hydrants, and hoses.
• Completing quarterly RCD testing and inspect Misting Units.
• Maintaining fire doors and performing flushing and tap temperature tests as per water risk assessments.
• Undertaking monthly and annual emergency lighting checks.
• Checking and testing smoke vents as required.
• Carrying out any other duties as required

What you will bring:
• Experienced in multiple areas of maintenance such as: Fire; Door Maintenance, Extinguisher Maintenance and Alarm Core Points
• Emergency Lighting
• RCD
• Water Temperature Testing
• IT skills
