Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team at this vibrant school in Herts. This role involves providing individualised support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access the curriculum and reach their full potential in a nurturing learning environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to implement targeted strategies and interventions, ensuring the child is supported both academically and socially. Starting September 2025.

Duties as a SEN 121 Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with specific learning and/or behavioural needs

  • Help adapt lesson materials and activities to suit the child’s individual needs

  • Promote the pupil’s self-confidence, independence, and social inclusion

  • Support behaviour management strategies and encourage positive interactions

  • Assist with any personal care needs, if required

  • Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to review meetings

Ideal SEN 121 Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 capacity (preferred)

  • A patient, caring, and flexible approach

  • Good communication and teamwork skills as a SEN 121 Teaching Assistant

  • Ability to work under the guidance of teaching staff and use initiative when needed

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, TA qualification) are desirable but not essential
