Nursery Cook | £15,990 per annum | 25 Hours Per Week
Our client, a nurturing and beautiful nursery, is looking for an experienced Nursery Cook to join their friendly kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves cooking nutritious meals for children and understands the importance of safe and inclusive cooking practices within an early years setting.
As a Nursery Cook you will play a vital role in the daily life of the nursery, preparing healthy, balanced meals and snacks for children aged 0–5. The role requires someone who is confident in catering for a variety of dietary needs, including allergies and cultural preferences, and who can bring warmth and care into the kitchen.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working as a cook in a nursery, school, or similar setting is essential.
- Confidence in managing allergies, intolerances, and dietary restrictions.
- Understanding of food hygiene and safety practices (Food Hygiene Level 2 or above preferred).
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- A positive, can-do attitude and genuine care for children’s wellbeing.
- Flexibility, reliability, and a team spirit.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals and snacks for children each day.
- Plan menus that reflect a healthy, balanced diet and meet the needs of all children.
- Ensure all food is prepared in line with food hygiene and safety standards.
- Adapt recipes to meet allergy requirements and specific dietary needs.
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment.
- Order and manage kitchen stock and supplies.
- Work closely with nursery staff and families to understand and accommodate children's dietary needs.
