Hull College is seeking an ambitious, strategic, and inspiring Director of Higher Education and Registry to lead the next chapter of our Higher Education (HE) provision. Reporting directly to the Vice Principal for Quality and Learner Experience, this is a pivotal senior leadership role that offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on student outcomes, regional growth, and the evolution of an Institute of Higher Education at the heart of our community. Role Purpose:
As Director of Higher Education and Registry, you will lead the strategic development, quality assurance, and operational delivery of HE across the College. You will be responsible for shaping a high-quality, inclusive, and future-focused HE offer that meets the needs of learners, employers, and regional partners.
You will act as the institutional HE Registrar, leading the HE Registry function and ensuring full compliance with the Office for Students (OfS) and QAA requirements. You will also oversee governance structures, support curriculum innovation, and champion the student voice, driving continuous improvement across all aspects of the HE learner journey.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the strategic development and growth of Higher Education in alignment with Hull College’s strategic plan and regional skills priorities.
Establish and oversee an Institute of Higher Education with a distinct and inclusive identity.
Act as institutional HE Registrar and main contact for the Office for Students and QAA.
Drive innovation in curriculum design, progression pathways, and academic delivery.
Lead quality assurance, governance, and academic standards for all HE provision.
Inspire a culture of scholarly activity, teaching excellence, and student engagement.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen the HE brand and regional influence.
Provide effective leadership to HE teams and ensure robust performance reporting and data management.
Specific Duties:
Foster the development of learning support across FE, HE, apprenticeships, and 14-16 provisions.
Work closely with Admissions, SENCOs, and external agencies to ensure smooth transitions for learners.
Promote equality, diversity, and safeguarding in all aspects of the learner support services.
Manage learner disclosure processes and ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
Support the professional development of staff and contribute to the College’s Business Planning process.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications:
Honours degree (essential); master’s degree or equivalent (desirable)
Full teaching qualification
Evidence of continued professional development
Experience:
Proven senior-level experience in managing HE within a further education environment
Strong background in academic governance, compliance, and quality assurance
Track record of developing and delivering successful HE curricula
Experience in building strategic partnerships and influencing at senior levels
Skills & Attributes:
In-depth knowledge of the UK HE regulatory landscape, including OfS and QAA
Strategic thinker with the ability to lead change and deliver operational excellence
Exceptional communication and leadership skills
