Summary

Job Title: Senior Network Engineer

Salary: Competitive + Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits!

Location: Hybrid working, home & twice a month in Data-centres located in the South-East

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 40 hours per week + On call rota approximately 1 in 7 weeks, and Out of Hours 1-2 times a week

Join our forward-thinking team as a Senior Network Engineer, leading implementation and optimisation of our data centre network infrastructure and cloud connectivity solutions. This role is critical to ensuring high availability, performance, and security across our hybrid network environments.

As a Senior Network Engineer, it is your role to be responsible for planning, delivery, and management of network services to BCA and its group businesses. You must have a strong technical background and be comfortable managing and troubleshooting technical issues in relation to our network and security services. You need relevant knowledge in identifying, implementing, and maintaining reliable network and security technology products and services. You should be comfortable in managing and supporting a broad range of technologies and experienced in modern ways of working (automation/orchestration and infrastructure as code). There will also be a need to provide expert technical guidance to the wider network team.

Role Accountabilities:


Take a leading role in the deployment and management of network technology across the UK and EU
Lead the troubleshooting of high priority and complex incidents, applying logic and experience
Collaborate with network architects to design and implement network solutions
Ensure the network is well maintained, providing outstanding performance and reliability
Function as a Subject Matter Expert to the business in relation to all IT network topics
Ensures compliance with legal obligations and regulatory standards
Make recommendations to IT Management on innovative technologies
Lead the documentation of standards, operating procedures, and templates
Collaborate with technical peers and colleagues on direction of travel, automation, and best practice
Explore agile ways of working, find transformation opportunities, always leading by example
Function as mentor to less experienced members of the team to inspire development


Knowledge and Experience:


Considerable experience of designing, building, and supporting scalable network solutions
Sound understanding of fundamental networking concepts and associated security principles
Experience coordinating projects
Expert knowledge of WAN technologies such as BGP routing, MPLS and SD-WAN
Expert knowledge of Next generation Firewall technologies, especially Palo Alto & FortiGate
Expert knowledge of LAN Technologies, especially Cisco Datacentre switching & Cisco Meraki solutions
Advanced knowledge of Wireless LAN Technologies, especially Cisco Meraki & Ubiquiti Unifi
Advanced knowledge of Load Balancing Technologies
Experience with network monitoring/alerting and network configuration management tooling
Proven record in maintaining and supporting enterprise Network Security services.
Excellent listening, interpersonal and communication skills
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Able to effectively prioritise and execute tasks while under pressure
Ability to convey a professional image and deal confidently with technical problems
Inquisitive and driven to perform to the best of their abilities
