Summary
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills to join our front of house reception service as an Apprentice Receptionist at Queen’s and King George Hospitals Emergency Departments.
You will need to be able to remain calm under pressure as this role will involve interactions with difficult/distressed patients and relatives who will expect empathy from you. You will learn to use various NHS systems to access and record patient details and update their records. Duties include registering patients, booking follow-up appointments and arranging transport for patients
You will be required to work cross-site at both Queens & King George Hospital. The role requires working on an 8-week rolling rota covering both sites 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including public holidays. You must be able to work all shift patterns and at both sites, this is non-negotiable
Alongside the role you will complete the Level 2 Customer Service apprenticeship.
If you already hold a Customer Service qualification or have extensive Customer Service experience, then you are not eligible to apply for this post.

To be eligible for an Apprenticeship youmustmeet the following criteria
Be 18 years old or over
Have the right to work in the UK (without restrictions)
Have been permanently resident in the UK for the past 3 years
Complete all work related to the apprenticeship in the set timeframe. This includes attendance at all workshops, meetings with your allocated Education Coach and all written assignments.
Book in patients accurately; ensuring all mandatory fields are updated on various systems, (Careflow, Adastra, and BARTS transport).
Check the spine for CPIS & FGMIS alerts and communicate to triage nurse.
Book transport for discharged or transferred patients.
Accurately maintain filing in numeric order and archive as per protocol.
Ensure the uniform policy is adhered to at all times.
Ensure telephone enquiries are answered promptly, courteously, and accurately with due regard to patient confidentiality.
Generate appointments for various clinics.
Assist in training of new staff.
Ensure BEST training is compliant at all times.
Ensure the patient/reception working area is kept tidy at all times and confidentiality is maintained.
Ensure forms/photocopied documents are available.
Follow the Trauma/Unknown processes when booking in.
Be aware of downtime process and follow when needed.
