Summary
About the role:
You will be responsible for management, development, promotion and marketing of the whole length of the Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail, with economic benefits for all the counties in England and Wales through which it passes. The role is funded through Natural England and Natural Resources Wales grants and hosted by Powys County Council.
About you:
-You will be a well organised, self-motivated person with a love of the outdoors and an understanding of the importance of National Trails as a tourism asset.
- You will have significant experience in delivering countryside access work and understand how the relevant legislation is applied to practical management of public paths.
-You will be able to communicate confidently with the public and will have
experience of partnership working, liaising and co-ordinating effectively with
partners and stakeholders.
-You will have strong budget management skills.
What you will do:
You will work with Managing Authorities and other partners to ensure that the
Trail’s physical condition meets the Quality Standards that are commensurate
with its status as an internationally promoted tourism asset. This includes direct management of practical works and liaison with Managing Authorities around their work annual programme, to deliver against the Trail Management Plan. You will identify and take advantage of opportunities for the development and improvement of the condition and accessibility of the Trail and to draw in additional funding, to encourage and support sustainable use of the path. You will be actively involved in the Trail’s promotion and marketing, including presenting at local, national and international events, developing materials to support this, working with external media companies and ensuring that the Trail website and social media are regularly updated.
You will manage the annual processes around the grants that support the Trail, developing funding applications, managing supporting budgets, allocating grant budget to other Managing Authorities, monitoring and reporting progress and completing grant claims.
There is no DBS Check requirement for this position
