Summary
Are you a strategic, creative, and results-driven marketing leader looking for a secure, flexible role over the next year? Join REDA (Reading’s Economy & Destination Agency) as our Head of Marketing and play a key role in shaping the future of one of the UK’s most dynamic and fast-growing towns.
As maternity cover, you’ll work closely with REDA’s leadership team and Board of Directors to maintain momentum across key projects and campaigns. This role is ideal for a senior-level freelance marketing professional or contractor seeking a stable, part-time opportunity with purpose.
About the Role:
This is a pivotal leadership role overseeing all marketing, communications, social media, and all campaign activity for REDA. You’ll work alongside the wider team and key partners to develop and deliver innovative marketing strategies that:
Drive footfall and business success in Reading town centre and support the Business Improvement Districts (BIDs)
Promote Reading as a leading cultural and visitor destination
Support local skills development and employment opportunities
Strengthen Reading’s reputation as a hub for business, innovation, and investment
This is a varied, hands-on role, ideal for a strategic marketing professional who is willing to get stuck in and make a difference. You’ll manage our Social Media & Content Assistant, and lead on the coordination and delivery of high-impact campaigns. As a partnership organisation, you’ll gain valuable experience working with multiple stakeholders across a wide variety of sectors and businesses to promote Reading externally.
As this is a part-time role, we are looking to be flexible in terms of working pattern – this can be discussed during the interview process.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Lead and implement REDA’s marketing and communications strategy
Develop brand-led, integrated campaigns that raise Reading’s profile locally, nationally and internationally
Manage a Social Media and Content Assistant
Shape how Reading is seen – from business growth and cultural events to tourism and local skills
Act as a brand guardian for REDA and the place of Reading
