Summary
Job summary To work with delegated service users, often working without direct supervision in a secure inpatient settings. To provide Fitness support to a variety of patients with mental health issue and history of offence. To engage service users and their carers in therapeutic programmes of care and encourages them in a compassionate manner, to support them in achieving their identified goals to promote independence and well-being. To provide the best possible experience for service users and carers. To show commitment to and participate in quality improvement activities. To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities. To promote regular service user and staff engagement in fitness activities Main Duties and Responsibilities/ Clinical Responsibilities patient contact Works with Registered Physiotherapists, to follow up on identified rehabilitation exercise plans for delegated service users. Works with service users who attend the gym or other lifestyle activities in the sports hall. To be able to ensure good working condition of gym equipment and escalate when regular servicing or a replacement of equipment is necessary. Maintains adequate daily record of attendees and provides necessary information to team lead. Encourages service users/carers in a compassionate manner, to actively participate in their own therapy to support them in achieving their identified goals. Provides information and practical advice, within scope of own competency, to service users and carers e.g. demonstrating exercise programmes for them to follow. Works with staff within the secured inpatient environment who are willing to participate in staff fitness programs. Participates in health promotion activities.
