Leisure & Culture Dundee is seeking a Health & Fitness Instructor to deliver a range of health and fitness services across mainstream and referral-based programmes. The role involves conducting individual and group sessions, performing fitness assessments, creating tailored programmes, and supporting service users in achieving their health goals

Working across various Active Dundee sites, you will work 33 hours per week.

This post is Fixed Term for a period of 3 years.

Requirements

You must hold a current S/NVQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification and also a GP Referral programme consultant qualification, or willingness to attain within the last 3 months, and hold a current Fist Aid Qualification.


In addition, candidates with further credentials such as a BACPR Phase IV Exercise Instructor certification or an equivalent Level 4 qualification, and a CanRehab Instructor Qualification will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

To deliver a wide range of health and fitness services across Leisure & Culture Dundee programmes, which will include working on mainstream and referral-based programmes, creating a welcoming and engaging fitness environment that offers an enhanced experience for service users to help with achieving their personal goals while contributing to the overall community health outcomes.

The Individual

Candidates must have experience working in a gym environment, delivering fitness sessions to groups, and conducting fitness assessments, including the development of structured health and fitness programmes. Strong communication and delivery skills, along with the ability to organise sessions and manage time effectively, are essential. Additionally, experience working with specialist population groups, such as individuals recovering from stroke, cardiac conditions, or COPD, is highly desirable.

You will have the ability to work flexible hours and to undertake training opportunities for purposes of both personal and service development.

Member of PVG scheme or willingness to become a member of the PVG scheme with satisfactory Scheme Record of Scheme Record Update.
