Job Description

We are seeking a Family Based Care Team Leader with a proven ability to manage complex situations with effectiveness and compassion.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, demonstrate strong organisational skills, be autonomous and adaptable to changing circumstances. Above all, they will be committed to ensuring that children and families are at the centre of all decision-making processes. The Family Based Care Team Leader will ensure that the service embodies the transformational change of the Promise, which aspires to ensure that love, care and nurture is at the heart of all care and families are supported in their local communities.

As our Family Based Care Team Leader you will provide leadership, professional support and supervision to social work professionals within the fostering, adoption and kinship service.

The Family Based Care Team Leader has a key role in ensuring that Inverclyde has high quality, well supported, trauma informed family based care options for all children who cannot safely remain in their home. You will lead, support and mentor your team to provide the highest standards of assessment and support to kinship, fostering and adoptive families.

You will lead on key tasks relating to the recruitment of new foster carers and prospective adoptive carers. As a regulated service you will fulfil the role of Registered Manager.

Ideally, you will have experience and specialist knowledge in delivering Fostering, Adoption and Kinship Care Services, which are provided within a complex legislative, procedural and regulatory framework.

Self-evaluation and continuous improvement are central to the role. You will ensure that services are of the highest quality and standard, that children are safe and protected in every household, and that practice is focused on the wellbeing of children and young people, who require compassionate, skilled and nurturing family-based care.

Children’s Services in Inverclyde is at the beginning of an exciting period of change, to equip us to continue to meet the needs of our communities, support more children to remain at home and provide a high standard of support to families when they need it. The successful candidate in this post will be someone ready to lead and support colleagues through change.

You will find that Inverclyde is a great place to work. We’re small enough that you can make things happen quickly, and you will have plenty of opportunity to extend and diversify your experience.

If this sounds like where you’re meant to be, we would love to hear from you. For an informal discussion about these exciting opportunities and to learn more about our ambition for the future, contact Emma Bilsland, Service Manager on 01475 715365 or emma.bilsland@inverclyde.gov.uk.
